Why CorroDec 2G

Early detection where corrosion begins

Moisture is the trigger of almost every reinforcement corrosion. The CorroDec 2G measures it where it occurs, inside the component itself, long before anything becomes visible on the surface.

Passive via RFID

The sensor works without its own battery. The reader supplies it wirelessly with power and reads the values in three to five seconds.

No power source in the concrete

Because no battery can run down, the sensor stays functional for the entire service life of the structure.

Moisture and corrosion

The moisture sensor delivers the early indicator, the corrosion sensor confirms the progress of the corrosion front. Often used in combination.

Deep readout possible

Up to 10 cm with the standard reader, up to 45 cm with the advanced reader, with an external antenna up to 100 m depth in the structure.

New construction and existing structures

Embedded during new construction or retrofitted by core drilling in existing structures. Designed for both routes.

Plannable maintenance

Whoever sees the moisture ingress early seals in time and avoids the significantly more expensive repair of damaged components.

Operating principle

How the CorroDec 2G is read out

Unlike the wireless crack sensor, the CorroDec 2G is read out on site with a reader. Because it works passively and without power, it also delivers reliable readings after years in the concrete, which feed into your structural documentation.

  1. 01

    Embedding

The sensor is embedded in new construction or retrofitted in existing structures by core drilling, with a defined concrete cover.

  2. 02

    Reading out

The reader supplies the passive sensor wirelessly with power and transfers the readings in three to five seconds.

  3. 03

    Documenting

Moisture, corrosion status and temperature feed into the structural documentation and maintenance planning.

Mounting

Installed by core drilling

The sensor is set into a core drilling and anchored in the component. This works in new construction as well as in retrofitting of existing structures, without cabling and without mains power.

  • Mounting without intervention in the load-bearing structure
  • Suitable for new construction and retrofitting of existing structures
  • On request, Infrasolute carries out the installation

Simulation

Read wirelessly in 3 to 5 seconds

The reader supplies the passive sensor wirelessly with power and transfers the readings. Simulate a readout: moisture, corrosion status and temperature appear just as they feed into the structural documentation.

Two variants

Moisture sensor and corrosion sensor

The CorroDec 2G is available in two versions. In practice they are often combined: one delivers the early indicator, the other confirms the progress. The sister variant is the corrosion sensor.

Moisture sensor

Measures the electrical conductivity and temperature in the concrete and so indicates the moisture ingress.

Corrosion sensor

Monitors via two-stage wire monitoring whether the corrosion front has reached a defined depth, complemented by temperature.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the delivery?
The CorroDec 2G is available as a moisture sensor and as a corrosion sensor. The exact scope of delivery depends on the variant and the project, for example the number of sensors and the matching reader. We clarify this as part of the project inquiry and prepare a suitable quotation.
How is the sensor installed?
There are two routes. In new construction, the sensor is positioned on the reinforcement before pouring and embedded in the concrete. In existing structures, retrofitting takes place by core drilling. The minimum concrete cover above the sensor is 15 mm with concrete C20/25 and can be reduced to 10 mm with C40/45.
How does the readout work and how great is the range?
The sensor is passive and powerless. A reader supplies it wirelessly with power and reads the measurement values in three to five seconds. The range is up to 10 cm with the standard reader, up to 45 cm with the advanced reader, and with an external antenna up to 100 m depth in the structure.
How do I access the measurement data?
Unlike the wireless crack sensor, the CorroDec 2G is read out on site with a reader. Because it works passively and without power, it has no battery that can run down, and delivers reliable readings even after years in the concrete. The readout data feeds into your structural documentation.
Why is the price given on request?
The price depends on the variant, the number of sensors and the matching reader. Moisture and corrosion monitoring are usually part of a concrete monitoring concept that we tailor to the structure. That is why we prepare the quotation project by project through the project inquiry.
What is the difference between the moisture sensor and the corrosion sensor?
The moisture sensor measures the electrical conductivity and temperature in the concrete and so indicates the moisture ingress. The corrosion sensor monitors via two-stage wire monitoring whether the corrosion front has reached a certain depth, complemented by the temperature measurement. The two variants are often used in combination.
