The monitoring concept, before the first sensor sits

Before the first sensor is mounted, there is a solid monitoring concept. An individual concept for each structure, built on a standardised, scalable IoT platform. We plan so that every measuring point answers a question and every threshold triggers a decision.

  • Concept free of charge
  • Aligned with DIN 1076
  • No commitment to operation

Planning before technology

Why a monitoring concept comes first

Monitoring is only as good as its planning. We therefore reverse the usual order: first the measuring task with its points and thresholds, then the technology that fits it. And we prepare the concept itself free of charge.

Request a quote

Measuring task first

We clarify what needs to be measured, at which points and with which thresholds. Only then does the sensor selection follow.

Every point justified

For every position we document why measurement takes place there and what the reading allows you to conclude. No sensor without a purpose.

Manufacturer-independent

Where our sensors solve the task best, we recommend them. Where another solution makes more sense, we say so as well.

Economically planned

As lean as possible, as extensive as necessary. This keeps the initial investment and ongoing cost within a comprehensible frame.

Prepared free of charge

We do not invoice you for the concept. You receive an implementable monitoring concept and then decide freely whether to continue with us.

Process

Four steps to a solid monitoring concept

  1. 01

    Enquiry and objective

You describe the structure, the damage pattern and the occasion to us. Together we define which question the monitoring should answer: proving crack growth, safeguarding structural stability or avoiding a closure.

  2. 02

    Condition analysis

We review inspection reports to DIN 1076, structural documents and existing damage surveys. From this we derive the critical areas that need to be monitored.

  3. 03

Monitoring concept and measuring point planning

We select the suitable sensors, define measuring points, measuring intervals and warning and alarm thresholds, and describe how the data feeds back into your inspection cycles.

  4. 04

    Quotation and implementation plan

You receive a concrete quotation with a parts list, mounting concept and schedule. On request, we take over mounting, commissioning and ongoing operation.

Sensor selection by measuring task

The monitoring concept planner

Choose a measuring task and see which sensors, which interval and which standard we apply for it. A simplified example, not a substitute for individual planning.

Scope of service

What is included in the concept

At the end you hold an implementable monitoring concept: a measuring point plan, sensor selection, thresholds, intervals and a quotation with a parts list and schedule.

  • Review of existing inspection and condition documents
  • Selection of the suitable sensors for each measuring task
  • Measuring point plan with a justification for every position
  • Definition of warning and alarm thresholds
  • Definition of measuring intervals and data pathways
  • Integration into existing inspection cycles to DIN 1076
  • Quotation with parts list, mounting and schedule

Which inspection types and deadlines DIN 1076 requires is explained in the knowledge article Bridge inspection to DIN 1076

Your result

You then decide freely whether to carry out the implementation internally or hand mounting and operation over to us. The concept is an independent service.

What a finished monitoring concept looks like in practice is shown by the reference projects. Sorted by structure type you will find them under bridges, car parks and parking garages and the remaining structure types.

Everything from a single source

From the monitoring concept to alerting, one point of contact

The concept is the first step of a continuous chain. On request, Infrasolute takes over every further step, without interfaces where responsibility gets lost.

We start with the condition analysis

Describe your structure and the occasion to us. We review the documents and prepare an implementable monitoring concept free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

How does the concept differ from a pure sensor supply?
With the concept, the measuring task is at the centre, not the product. We first clarify what needs to be measured, at which points and with which thresholds. Only then does the sensor selection follow. This avoids measuring points that deliver no usable conclusion.
Does the concept take DIN 1076 into account?
Yes. We align the monitoring concept with your scheduled inspections to DIN 1076. Continuous monitoring closes the gap between inspection dates and gives the inspecting engineer additional data for their assessment.
How are warning and alarm thresholds defined?
We derive the thresholds from structural analysis, the damage pattern and relevant standards, for example DIN 4150 for vibration. We define a warning threshold for early observation and an alarm threshold that triggers an immediate response.
Can I commission the concept without the later operation?
Yes. The concept is an independent and free-of-charge service. You receive an implementable monitoring concept and can then decide freely whether to carry out mounting and operation with us or implement it internally.
Which documents do you need from us for the concept?
Helpful documents are the latest inspection reports to DIN 1076, structural documents and existing damage surveys. If any of this is missing, it is no obstacle: after the first conversation we tell you what we actually need for the condition analysis and what we will assess at the structure ourselves.
What does a monitoring concept cost?
We prepare the concept free of charge. After the condition analysis you receive an implementable monitoring concept together with a concrete quotation with a parts list, mounting concept and schedule. Costs only arise with the sensors, mounting and ongoing operation, that is only once you decide on implementation.
Is a monitoring concept worthwhile for new construction too?
Yes. In new construction, the baseline measurement creates a documented starting condition against which every later change can be compared. Sensors embedded in concrete are fitted before pouring, which is not possible later in the same way. In existing structures, monitoring instead begins with the damage pattern that is already present.
How many measuring points does a structure need?
As few as possible and as many as necessary. The decisive factor is the question the monitoring should answer, not the area of the structure. For every point we record why measurement takes place there and what conclusion the reading allows. Points without a usable conclusion do not make it into the concept.
How long does it take to prepare a monitoring concept?
This depends on the size and complexity of the structure. Once the documents are available, a concept for a manageable bridge or a car park is usually ready within a few weeks. We state the concrete timeframe after the condition analysis.
